Terms of use
Effective 11 October 2026
In short: Audia plays audio files you own; it includes no books. Basic listening is free. Premium is a one-time purchase through your app store, after a 14-day free trial with no automatic charge. Captions and translations are generated by software and can contain mistakes.
1. These terms
These terms apply to the Audia app (listed in the stores as “Audiobook Player – Offline”) and to audiabook.app. Audia is made by Guntis Jakovins (“we”). By using the app you agree to these terms. If you downloaded Audia from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where the two differ, Apple's agreement governs your use on Apple devices.
2. What Audia is
Audia is a player for audio files you already have: audiobooks, downloaded podcasts, lectures and recordings. It doesn't sell, stream or include any books or other content. It can't play files protected by another service's copy protection (DRM).
3. Your files
You are responsible for having the right to use the files you add. Audia processes them only on your device. Please don't use Audia to break the law or anyone's rights.
4. Your licence to use Audia
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Audia on devices you own or control, under the rules of the store you got it from. You may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.
5. Free trial and Premium
- Every Premium tool is available free for 14 days from the first launch. Nothing is charged when the trial ends; Basic listening stays free.
- Premium is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. The price is shown in your store before you buy, in your local currency (US price: $8.99).
- Payment, receipts and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. Refund requests go to them: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, Google Play through your order history.
- Premium belongs to the store account you bought it with. Restore it on other devices with that account, using Settings → Premium → Restore purchases.
- We may add new Premium features. We won't remove the features you bought except where this is necessary, for example for legal or technical reasons beyond our control.
6. Captions and translations
Captions and translations are produced by speech-recognition and translation models running on your device. They can be incomplete or wrong. Don't rely on them where accuracy matters, for example for legal, medical or safety purposes. The models are made by third parties (OpenAI Whisper, MIT licence; Mozilla Firefox Translations, MPL-2.0) and are downloaded from their hosts when you first use these features.
7. In the car
Use Audia's car features (Android Auto and CarPlay) only in ways that are safe and lawful where you drive. Keep your attention on the road.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Audia reliable, but we provide it as it is, without guarantees that it will be free of errors or always available. We may update or change the app. Updates may be needed to keep using it.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data. Keep your own copies of your audio files. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer, including the mandatory consumer protection laws of the country you live in.
10. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Audia without owing you anything. We handle the personal data in your messages as described in the privacy policy.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will publish the new version here and update the date above. If you continue to use Audia after a change, you accept the new terms.
